Three college students from Virginia died after the automobile veered off the road in West Virginia and crashed into a tree.

Around 10:30 pm on February 2nd, a southbound car drove off the road and slammed with a tree on Route 259 close to the West Virginia/Virginia border.

All five individuals in the car were 19-year-old James Madison University students from Harrisonburg, Virginia.

While the driver and another passenger were taken to a hospital in critical condition, three passengers were confirmed dead at the spot.

After a single-car crash earlier in the week that claimed the death of three of their classmates, two James Madison University students were hospitalized on Saturday with critical injuries.

The public University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, is organizing to support the two injured while also mourning those killed in the crash on Thursday night in West Virginia.

A car went off the road and collided with a tree as it traveled south on Route 259 toward their campus in the Shenandoah Valley.

On Saturday, the sheriff’s office had no new information on the inquiry.

James Madison University President Jonathan R. Alger released a Twitter statement,

“The JMU community grieves for our students lost and injured in a horrible car accident, for their families, friends, and all who knew them.”

Three JMU students killed in West Virginia crash

In a devastating West Virginia vehicle accident on Thursday night, three James Madison University (JMU) students died, and two more were seriously injured and sent to the hospital.

According to the statement, the men were at a club before the collision that was 59 km from Harrisonburg. Investigations are still ongoing to determine the accident’s cause.

Vice president for Student Affairs Tim Miller wrote to the University on behalf of JMU, stating that the school is “at the moment working to confirm specifics with local councils and the families of the students.”

The University strives to provide further assistance while informing the students’ families of the accident.

The names John “Luke” Fergusson, Nicholas Troutman, and Joshua Mardis will remain in the memories and hearts of Dukes forever.

According to the Police, the car was heading south when it got off the road and struck a tree.

There were no indications of an animal getting hit or skid tracks on the street, indicating reverse thrust.

Three of the five students reportedly died at the scene, while the two others, the driver and an additional passenger, were med-flighted to the hospital in critical condition.
